Continuous Improvement with Broad-Based Engagement
AIAG is a catalyst for achieving peak performance through its unique insight into industry issues, candid collaborative experts and delivery of real practical solutions that address the challenges of quality, cost, and speed throughout the global supply chain. Through AIAG, there are literally hundreds of noncompetitive areas where automotive OEMs and suppliers - working collaboratively - drive significant improvements in cost, quality and customer satisfaction.

AIAG promotes its objectives primarily by publishing standards and offering educational conferences and training. Examples include the Advanced Product Quality Planning/Production Part Approval Process (APQP/PPAP) standards in which techniques and tools designed to identify problems and ensure quality are prescribed.     • ISO/TS 16949:2009 Quality Management Systems and Quality Core Tools (Global Benchmarks)
      ISO/TS 16949 is the global quality management system standard for the automotive industry based on ISO 9001. Core Tools include Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) and Potential Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), many of which are now being adopted by other industry sectors.

    • Global Quality Survey
      AIAG partnered with J. D. Power to conduct the first of annual global surveys on the state of quality, beginning with China and the US markets. Results of the survey will be featured in the annual AIAG Quality Summit.

    • Core Tools Self-Assessment
      Many companies conduct internal training on the quality core tools, e.g. APQP, PPAP, MSA, SPC and FMEA. Many others use outside trainers. AIAG offers an online free Core Tools assessment which individuals can take to determine how well they grasp the key principles. Results are shared with the individual confidentially indicating where additional or refresher training may be helpful.

    • Consumer-Centric Warranty Management Guideline: A Guideline for Industry Best Practices
      This joint AIAG- Original Equipment Suppliers Association (OESA) guideline is designed to promote consumer satisfaction and continuous warranty improvement by providing a recommended, robust warranty management program that instills a consumer-centric approach to warranty management. This will facilitate a change from a cost-transfer system to a problem prevention system to benefit end users as well as carmakers and their suppliers.

    • Guideline to Effective Error- Proofing
      This new deliverable from AIAG provides comprehensive guidelines and over 10 key strategies for manufacturing-based industries to achieve a "zero error" culture! It is costly to manufacture errors then try to detect and correct them. Use this guide to design products and processes using methods that prevent problem occurrence!

    • AIAG Key Terms and Acronyms
      AIAG has assembled unique sets of over 2000 acronyms and over 700 terms that automotive practitioners are likely to come across into searchable electronic documents to promote common understanding. Proper understanding of terms and acronyms used in the industry today will promote effective and efficient quality management and improvement.
