Special Processes Initiative Project Team
This project team oversees the work groups that are developing a common process approach to control special processes (heat treat, plating, and coating, welding, soldering, etc.) and a methodology to evaluate and remediate to ensure quality, reliability and durability of components from these processes. The deliverable for each process will include:
  • Requirements documents & guidelines
  • Implementation tools
  • A verification/validation process
The Heat Treat System Assessment, 2nd edition, Plating System Assessment and Coating System Assessment documents were published in August, 2007. Work began on welding and soldering special processes in the fourth quarter of 2007. The requirement to be audited may be included as part of ISO/TS 16949 certification, through the use of common customer-specific requirement for each process.
