Early Warning Standards Project
According to AMR Research, OEMs and suppliers reported almost $13 billion in warranty claims in 2005--an 8 percent increase over 2004. AIAG's EWS project focuses on the improvement of communications and processes to lower spiraling warranty costs and reduce the detection-to-correction time for faulty parts.
The goal of the AIAG EWS project is to:
    • Expedite the detection of unforeseen events around products or services to enable an organization to accelerate towards addressing and correcting issues detected within their existing processes/methods
    • Enhance the identification of product trends that, over time, will enable better predictability processes for the purpose of improving or enhancing a product or process design
    • Educate association and industry members about process in this domain which can aid in enhancing communications between the various constituencies and reducing warranty costs.
