MFMEA Rollout

A common confusion about Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) is that it represents an evaluation of the machine design. In actuality the PFMEA assumes that all machines included in the analysis have had an FMEA analysis. Machine suppliers are required to analyze a machine for weaknesses and issues. Those that can't be designed out, require a preventative maintenance schedule.

Normally machine suppliers were directed to the SAE J1739 reference document that contained a section dealing with design tooling and equipment failure mode and effects analysis. But, during the update of J1739 in January 2009, the section was dropped from the standard. Chrysler, Ford, and GM have updated the manual and release it as Machinery FMEA, 2nd edition.

Participants in this session will be provided a review of the new Guide and a single user copy (e-Document) of the Machinery FMEA.

Note: This is not a training.
