To be eligible for the program, candidates must meet the requirements of Section 4.2 in the Rules for achieving and maintaining IATF Recognition, 5th Edition and the related Sanctioned Interpretations. Candidates must also be sponsored by an IATF-contracted Certification Body.
This is a 5-day event comprising of 3.5 days of face-to-face training and 1.5 days of evaluation.
The 3.5 days of training includes individual and group exercises, quizzes and homework activities. The training does not go through the IATF 16949 standard or cover the automotive core tools in detail. It is expected that the candidates arrive with knowledge of both IATF 16949 and the automotive core tools.
To pass the evaluation, minimum scores must be achieved in each of the following five competency areas:
- Process Approach incorporating risk-based thinking, focus on performance, prioritization, and analysis and synthesis of data
- Customer Specific Requirements including core tools
- Knowledge & Application of IATF 16949
- Knowledge & Application of the IATF Rules
- Nonconformity management
This program applies to third-party auditor certification, not to first- or second-party auditors.
