Automotive Industry Impact on Water Resources

The automotive industry is a significant consumer of water, using vast amounts for everything from metal fabrication and painting to cooling and air conditioning systems. With each step requiring water, the potential impact on water resources is substantial. Our work group seeks to mitigate these impacts by identifying innovative water management practices to forge a sustainable future.

Understanding Water Security

Water security involves ensuring sustainable access to adequate quantities of acceptable quality water for sustaining livelihoods, human well-being, socioeconomic development, preservation of ecosystems, and guarding against water-borne pollution and water-related disasters. Within the automotive industry, this means managing the water footprint across the entire supply chain, from production to end-of-life vehicle management.
