Stay tuned to what’s top of mind for AIAG and member companies.
As VP of IT, I watch the intersection of technology and automotive manufacturing evolve daily. The rapid adoption of artificial intelligence promised a revolution for our supply chain. Yet, for many professionals, leaning on general-purpose artificial intelligence tools is proving to be a massive liability. Public AI chatbots hallucinate. They lack the nuanced context of our industry, and they cannot distinguish between a widely accepted standard and an unverified opinion. Today, I want to share my perspective on why relying on these general tools for critical compliance, quality, or corporate responsibility decisions is dangerous, and why a purpose-built system like AIAG’s Virtual Assistant (AVA) is the right technological solution when reliable answers matter.
We have also spent decades operating in silos. Companies have hoarded knowledge, treating basic compliance and quality interpretations as competitive advantages. In today's landscape of rapid technological shifts and next-generation mobility, this closed-door mindset is a roadblock to progress.
AVA represents a fundamental shift in our daily ways of working. By training a smart virtual assistant exclusively on the comprehensive, legally safe AIAG library of standards and best practices, we are creating a competition-free forum. It is a place where rivals can access the same foundational truths, turning competition into cooperation at the challenge-solution intersection.
