About AIAG Membership

What does it mean to be an AIAG member?

Close
AIAG membership connects the brightest minds across the automotive industry — from OEMs, suppliers, service providers, and other stakeholder organizations — in a global community focused on advancing quality, supply chain and data solutions, and corporate responsibility. Members gain access to collaborative work groups to shape the next generation of standards and best practices, along with discounted access to industry-developed manuals, training, and events.
What benefits are included with membership?
Open
Member benefits include significant discounts on industry-developed manuals, training, and events, complimentary access to key e-learning, subscription options for the AI-powered AIAG Virtual Assistant (AVA) for direct members, and the ability to join AIAG work groups to develop next-generation standards and guidance.
What types of organizations are eligible for membership?
Open
AIAG membership is available to organizations involved in or supporting the automotive industry, including OEMs and suppliers (all tiers), logistics and service providers, software and technology providers, consultants and training organizations, and government agencies and academic institutions. Certain organizations, such as holding companies, financial institutions, and unauthorized distributors are not eligible.
What does it mean to be a direct member vs. non-direct member?
Open
A direct member is defined as a company that operates as an original equipment manufacturer or a direct material supplier within the automotive supply chain. These organizations are actively engaged in the physical production, assembly, or supply of automotive parts and materials across manufacturing tiers. Non-direct members include non-direct suppliers, software service providers, consultant and training providers, professional services, associates, and students.
Does AIAG offer individual memberships?
Open
No. AIAG offers corporate memberships, providing access for your organization rather than individual users.
What is Sponsored Membership?
Open
This exclusive type of membership is available to direct suppliers with less than $10 million in global annual sales — specifically suppliers of components, materials, and secondary finishing processes, including logistics services, packaging, labeling, and tooling and equipment. If your product touches or becomes part of the finished vehicle, membership is free. Contact your Member Ambassador or our membership team for details or explore our page to learn more.
What is a Member Ambassador?
Open
A Member Ambassador is your primary point of contact at AIAG, dedicated to supporting your organization throughout your membership.

Membership Access & Eligibility

Who is covered under my organization’s membership?
Close
AIAG membership includes the applying organization (parent organization, if applicable), and all wholly owned subsidiaries or divisions. All employees within these entities can access membership benefits. Joint ventures, limited partnerships, and partially owned entities are not included and must obtain separate membership.
Can a subsidiary be included under a parent organization’s global membership?
Open

Yes. AIAG membership extends to wholly owned subsidiaries under a parent organization’s global membership. To add a subsidiary, please provide the subsidiary’s information to your AIAG Member Ambassador or contact our membership team. We will review and attach the entity to the parent membership.

Note: Joint ventures, limited partnerships, and partially owned entities are not included and must obtain separate membership.

Is membership transferable?
Open
No. AIAG membership is non-transferable between organizations.
Can membership benefits be shared outside my organization?
Open
No. Membership benefits are intended for internal use only (i.e., employees of the member organization, including any wholly owned subsidiaries or divisions). Unauthorized resale or distribution of AIAG materials may result in suspension or termination of membership.
What can non-member organizations access?
Open
Non-members can purchase AIAG publications and register for training and events at non-member rates. Select resources and opportunities are available to members only, including discounted pricing on AIAG offerings and participation in industry work groups.

Joining & Managing Membership

How can my organization apply for membership?
Close
Simply complete and submit our online membership application. Applications are typically reviewed within 24–48 hours, and membership is activated once payment is received.

Note: We recommend creating a free web account before applying for membership if you have not already done so.
How is membership pricing determined?
Open
Membership dues are typically based on your organization’s global annual sales. Membership pricing and terms are available here.
How does my organization pay for membership
Open
Payment options include credit card, wire transfer, check, or purchase order. Wire transfer instructions are available here
Can my organization upgrade from a limited membership to a full membership?
Open
Yes. Organizations can upgrade from a limited to full membership at any time to access the complete range of AIAG benefits. To do so, please contact your Member Ambassador or the membership team. They will assist with updating your membership status and provide applicable pricing details.
How can my organization reinstate lapsed membership?
Open
To reinstate your AIAG membership, simply complete and submit a new membership application. Applications are typically processed within 24–48 hours, followed by outreach from AIAG.

Membership Terms & Renewals

Are memberships based on a calendar year or an anniversary date?
Close
AIAG memberships follow a standard 12-month anniversary term. Membership is activated once payment is received, with the anniversary date as the first day of the following month. Each membership remains active for one full year and expires at the end of the month prior to the anniversary date, renewing on the same date each year. For example, if your organization’s join date is June 1, 2026, the membership will remain active through May 31, 2027, and renew on June 1, 2027.

Note: Multi-year memberships follow the same structure, with 24- and 36-month anniversary terms.
Does membership renew automatically?
Open
No. AIAG memberships do not auto-renew. Your organization must take action to renew your membership at the end of each term.
How does my organization renew membership?
Open
AIAG memberships are renewed annually based on your membership anniversary date (i.e., the first day of the month after payment is received). A renewal invoice will be emailed to your accounts payable department approximately 90 days prior to your anniversary date, with payment instructions included. If you provided alternate invoicing instructions to your Member Ambassador, those will be used instead. To explore multi-year renewal options or for additional assistance, please contact your AIAG Member Ambassador or the membership team.

Note: You will automatically receive an emailed receipt when renewing via the AIAG website. Receipts for other forms of payment are available upon request.
How does my organization maintain Sponsored Membership status?
Open
To maintain Sponsored Membership status, companies must continue to have annual global sales of $10 million or less and engage with AIAG at least once per year — through a product purchase, training or webinar registration, event attendance, participation as a sponsor or exhibitor, work group involvement, use of Core Tools Support (CTS) software, or engagement with the AIAG Virtual Assistant (AVA).
Does AIAG offer multi-year memberships?
Open
Yes. Organizations can choose either two- or three-year memberships — offered at a 3% and 7% discount respectively — to help streamline renewal planning and ensure uninterrupted access to AIAG benefits.
Can I cancel my organization’s membership?
Open
Yes. Members may cancel at any time by providing written notice. Please note that refunds are not provided unless AIAG makes a material change to membership services that renders them unusable for the member’s original intended purpose, in which case the member may request termination with a pro-rata refund for the unused portion of the membership term. Such requests must be submitted in writing within 30 days of the service modification.
Are refunds available for membership cancellations?
Open
Refunds may be issued if AIAG makes a material change to membership services that renders them unusable for the member’s original intended purpose. In such cases, the member may request termination with a pro-rata refund for the unused portion of the membership term. Such requests must be submitted in writing within 30 days of the service modification.
Can AIAG terminate membership?
Open
Yes. AIAG may terminate membership if membership terms are violated or benefits are misused.
